Hi I’m thinking of buying a townhouse in a Scarborough as an investment property. Living Asia for sometime so don’t have first hand market knowledge. What are the good websites to evaluate this idea ? Real estate websites and rental sites ? Mortgage rate etc ?
Hi Andrew – thanks for these questions! I am a big believer in personally talking to real estate agents who have both real estate investor expertise and a really good understanding of the local real estate market, so that is what I’d recommend. You can however get a lot of great information about market trends and statistics from the CMHC rental market report – see the Fall Housing Market Report and the Fall 2013 Rental Market Report for some great data. As to rates, it is important that you have someone review your specific situation. Your rate will be set based on several factors – your down payment, other financial obligations, income, and any other real estate you have. Please get in touch with me directly if you’d like to chat about your options. I’m happy to help!
